Abstract
Purpose. The Ponseti method has been demonstrated to be an effective method of treatment for congenital idiopathic clubfoot .To my knowledge; no study has been done to assess the potential outcome of this method in Tanzania. The purpose of this study is to assess the outcome of the Ponseti method in the treatment in Tanzania. Method. Consecutive case series were retrospectively selected from the period January 2002 to December 2006. Fifty subjects (34, male and 16 female) with 79 clubfeet were assessed. Serial manipulation and casting were performed to all as described by Ponseti. Pirani total score before and after treatment was compared.
Results. Before treatment (Mean clinical total score = 4.7, mean clinical midfoot score = 2.1, mean clinical hind foot score = 2.5).After treatment, Mean total scores =1.8, mean midfoot score = 0.9 and mean hind foot score = 0.9), SD 0.757 with mean number of casts required was 4 to 6 per foot Sixty six feet (83.5%) responded to treatment.. Conclusions The method has proved successful rate of 83.5%, those initiated treatment >7 months, underwent reconstructive surgery. These results indicate that, the technique is cheap and easy to adapt. I recommend the method to other treatment centres in Tanzania

My trip from Dar es Salaam to Glasgow
Dear Colleagues,
I am glad to inform that,Ihave been offered a Commonwealth Professional Fellowship award hosted by University of Strathclyde(National Centre for Prosthetics and Orthotics)tenable from 1stNovember 2008 to 30th April 2009.
I started my trip on 31st Oct.2008 from Dar Es saalam to Amsterdam, and it took us about hardly 8hrs.I had stop over at Amsterdam for flight exchange for about 2hrs,then I took another flight to Glasgow and it took me an hr to land at Glasgow.
Well from Amsterdam to Glasgow it wasnt very smooth ,because we experienced some an even movement, but we were given reassurement by the passenger care controller, infact it was just for few seconds but ,you know how could fill.
The first thing I experience just after landing at Glasgow was cold weather, only over saddenly,my feet, hands could not tolerate that quick changes, and I had started shiffering, and even the ears could not sense well.oh it was amazing.
Then our hosting body took us to the hostel we were supporse to be accommodated,it is good place, nice room with internete facilities, warming system, self contained ,and it is realy confortable I can say.
Lovely on next day, that was sunday,I had free time in hand and I had to go to church,to thanks God for his glories and pressures.Supprisely, after the session ,happened to meet a church leader who invited us for luch at his house around 3 mile from the church ,and there we met other international students who are studing at Glasgow, and real it was lovely moment for me ,because we could discuss soo many things in regards life in Glasgow and other common things surroundig human beigns.
It was good per say,
